Display and Signage

The influx of brighter and more efficient LEDs in the market has encouraged its use in outdoor applications such as commercial backlighted signs and displays. As a result, the  LED signage industry is growing rapidly. In addition there is a potential for greater energy and maintenance savings and improved performance over existing  technologies.

Brightness and color uniformity  among LEDs even from the same manufacturing batch are two of the major issues that  could affect the advantages of LEDs for signage applications. So it is very important to test the brightness and color uniformity of the LED sign/display boards and ensure them to be within tolerance before putting up for display.

Presently there is no brightness or color uniformity standards for signage.  But on a general consensus only  LED systems providing frontal luminance efficiency above 10 (Cd/{m^{2}})/W and brightness variations of less than 20 % within the display boards are acceptable.

For measuring brightness and color distribution characteristics of display panels and sign boards we make use of our Near Field Measurement System (NFMS). It is an integrated system consisting of a two-axis goiniophotometer in combination with a CCD Imaging Colorimeter.

Lumentra Inc. offers essential measurements for Signage applications during the various stages of product development and in final product placement. Please fill out the online test request form or contact us for pricing.
